Dr. Berna Hasçakır is an Associate Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University. After receiving her bachelor's and master's degrees from Dokuz Eylül University in Environmental Engineering, she completed her PhD in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering at Middle East Technical University. Dr. Hasçakır further advanced her expertise with postdoctoral studies in the Department of Energy Resources Engineering at Stanford University. Before joining Texas A&M University, she worked as a Senior Heavy Oil Reservoir Engineer in Venezuela, the United Kingdom, and Colombia for Schlumberger, a petroleum service company. Her current research areas include enhanced oil recovery methods, treatment of high dissolved solids waters from oil production, hydrogen production from petroleum, and carbon capture and storage methods for climate change.
